Thanksgiving Baskets Every year, the Parish of St. Monica & St. James hears and responds to the call of food donation to families in need in the Capitol Hill area during this important time of the year. This mission is organized by the Capitol Hill Group Ministry (CHGM).
For years, the parish has topped the list of most number of "baskets" donated to CHGM. In 2008, our parish members contributed close to 50 baskets. This is an important mission, and we are proud to be a part of it. Each Thanksgiving basket includes: - 3 boxes of mac and cheese
- 2 cans of string beans
- 2 cans of yams or fresh equivalent
- 2 boxes of stuffing
- 2 boxes of mash potatoes or 1 bag of rice
- 2 cans of cranberry sauce
- 2 onions
- 1 box of bisquick or muffin mix
- 1 box of cake mix and frosting mix
- 1 $20 Safeway gift card to purchase meat of choice
**Note: Safeway cards are to be placed in an envelope and given to CHGM staff. If enclosing a check for purchase of cards, please submit to CHGM prior to the delivery of baskets so that we may purchase in advance.
TIMELINE:
Early November - Purchase the items for your baskets.
Thanksgiving Day: Remember that your generosity means there are more families seated at the Thanksgiving table. Give thanks for the abundance you have shared!
