The Reverend Milton C. Williams, Jr. Biography

The Reverend Milton C. Williams, Jr. celebrated his first solemn High Mass at the Episcopal Parish of St. Monica & St. James on June 22, 2008.  Before being called to this parish, Fr. Williams was the Interim Rector at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, Washington. D.C.  Prior to his service at St. Timothy’s, Fr. Williams was the Priest Associate for Pastoral Care and Outreach Ministries for Trinity Church, Wall Street, New York.  Administrative supervision for Saint Paul’s shelter for men and John Heuss House drop-in shelter for adults was a part of Fr. Williams’ portfolio along with coordinating pastoral care with the Sisters of Saint Margaret.  While at Trinity, Fr. Williams had led parish mission trips to PanamaCubaSouth DakotaNew Orleans, and, with the Diocese of New York, a mission trip to South Korea.  Fr. Williams has served as a board member for Jacob Perlow Hospice, Beth Israel Medical CenterNew York, and Bailey House, New York.  (Bailey House is New York’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing for singles and families living with HIV/AIDS.)

 

Fr. Williams holds a Diploma in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary, Alexandria, Virginia, 1996; a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia, 1983; and a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, 1987.  While at Southern Seminary, he was appointed by both the Home and Foreign Mission Boards of the Southern Baptist Convention to serve as a missionary in FairbanksAlaska and South Brazil.  In 1988, Fr. Williams was appointed to serve in Macau, where he taught at Pui Ching Middle School and the then University of East Asia (Universidade de Ásia de Leste).

Before going to Trinity in April 1999, Fr. Williams was the Associate Priest at the Historic Pohick Episcopal Church,Fairfax CountyVirginia.  As the Associate at Pohick, Fr. Williams was the coordinator for youth ministries, missions and outreach, and music and liturgy.  Fr. Williams served as an Executive Board member to the Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry, a volunteer chaplain for Hospice of Northern Virginia, and was an instructor for liturgy for the Leadership Program for Church Musicians in the Diocese of Washington.

Fr. Williams is chaplain and member of Kappa Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and is chaplain for the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller.  Fr. Williams was born in Suffolk, Virginia, where his parents continue to reside.  He is the eldest son of three children.
